This song is about friendship, a recurring theme in my songs. Although the song title has the word "praying" in it, the song has by no means any religious association. My best friend was leaving our home town to live with her fiancé in France. I knew I would miss her but I also knew this wasn't going to be the end of our friendship. We were always going to think of one another, reach out for one another and the distance was only going to be a geographical one. Our minds would still be connected in the same way as they were before and we were always going to wish each other well. I was looking for a picture to describe this feeling and came up with praying hands reaching out for one another over a distance.
