Leaves In Autumn is a song about memories but also about friendships. I remember writing a first version of the song on New Year's Eve in 1994/1995. It was actually snowing outside and I let my mind travel to the past - which is not uncommon on New Year's Eve. You go back and reflect upon things that happened. What was good, what was bad? Which page turned? And what did you learn by that? I also went back further - several years actually, and it made me think of friends that I had lost contact with. I began wondering what would it be like to see them again? Would it be like we never parted? Is there something that time can't erase? Even though the page has turned for them as well? Would we still be a part of the same story? Is it even possible? Sometimes yes. And sometimes no. Years after I had written that first version a stranger handed me a note saying: "Memories are everything and nothing. They are everything because they're all we have and nothing because they're already gone." Which is exactly what I wanted to say in this song. All my memories became like colourful leaves in autumn that day.

Covering the leaves on the ground
As I’m gazing at the snowflakes’ dance
My thoughts travel to the past
It’s just one of these days
