A Leaf in The Wind happened a few months after I wrote Scared of Losing You when I was seeing my cousin in Lyon in October 1993. So, this song is also for David. As I was revising the lyrics, I tried to capture the process of letting go. There were still all these memories and hopes and at the same time, I was realizing that David was really far away from me and that we would probably not be together. I remember sitting in my cousin's living room and looking at the city lights outside while writing the song. So that memory definitely sparked the beginning of the second verse.

I was super happy to have María Betania on violin, Charlot Rivera on cello, and Larry Salzman on percussion again. Nathan Peter Illes added a double bass which is just what this song needed. The idea to have an accordion on the song came very late when the arrangement was actually already finished. But as I was listening to the song, I just heard it in my mind and decided to go for it. Together with the violin, it adds a nostalgic feel to the song - as if the memories are carried away by the wind - and Maria Betania and Andrea di Giacomo played their instruments perfectly.
